Created as part of a school assignment, "Hiyasmin" showcases a charcoal portrait of the artist's mother, created as an exploration of a new artistic medium. 

Done on a 9x11" vellum board, the piece primarily used wood charcoal pencils, complemented by compressed charcoal sticks, a white charcoal pencil, paper stumps or tortillons, a kneadable eraser, and a vinyl eraser for refined detailing. 

The work allowed the artist to experiment with the unique textures, and shading techniques.
